Subject: Issue with Zero Axial Forces in OpenSeesPy Truss Analysis
Dear OpenSeesPy Support Team,
I am currently working on a truss analysis using OpenSeesPy, but I have encountered an issue where all the axial forces in my truss elements are calculated as zero. Despite verifying my node coordinates, boundary conditions, and material properties, the analysis consistently returns zero axial forces for all members, even though the nodal displacements appear to be calculated correctly.
Key details of my model:
- Node Coordinates: Correctly defined in a 2D plane.
- Boundary Conditions: Hinge at Node A (fixed in both x and y directions), roller at Node D (fixed in y only).
- External Load: Applied at Node E as a 15 kN downward force.
- Element Definitions: Truss elements with correct cross-sectional area and modulus of elasticity.
- Analysis Type: Static analysis using ‘BandGeneral’ solver and ‘Plain’ constraints.
Despite these settings, I am unable to obtain correct axial forces. I suspect there might be an issue with the element definition or load application that I have overlooked.
Could you please advise me on possible reasons why the axial forces might be calculated as zero in this case? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Best Regards,
