I’m a tad confused on the free-body diagram for member CD. When you summed forces in the x direction it looks like the propped reaction at C was neglected? May be something simple that I’m missing but why was that ignored?
Hey @Jonathan_Snow - good question. When we make the cut at C, we’re actually making the cut an infinitesimally small distance below the joint. So, technically since the reaction is applied to joint C, it doesn’t appear on our free-body diagram.
