Hey folks,

This is a note to say that I made an error in the lecture above when calculating the force in the steel. After we’ve solved for x, the factor 0.87 should be omitted since we are dealing with the working level of stress in the steel at the point of concrete failure (rather than the characteristic yield stress). When this factor is omitted, the value of x is 428mm.

This came to light in the discussion section of the next lecture - read there for more context. If you’re reading this comment, it means I haven’t yet updated the lecture (and deleted the comment).
