Surely Ux,2,l = Uy,2 = 0 m yet for the axial force in member A you let Ux,2,l = 1.25x10^-5m.

I do not understand this … ?

Hi @alexboye,

Apologies - the confusion is entirely my fault! When the slide says U_y,2 = 0, this is careless rounding on my part when writing the slides - I’ve rounded it to zero when typing, it should of course be 0.0000125, as per the axial force calculation.

Your understanding is correct, U_x,2,l = U_y,2 in this case.
